Youth Book Club is an inclusive space to give our youth an opportunity to read more literature where people who look like them, deal with some of the same struggles as them, see a future created, and learn different sides of our history.
These topics and more will be covered in afro-futurism, folklore, history, current events, and autobiographies.
During our end-of-the-book event, we will be asking the kids to process and express their feelings regarding what they had recently read in various forms such as story-telling, paragraph writing, drawings, peer lead discussions, etc.
Allowing another place and opportunity for our youth to have a safe place to express and process their feelings in today's society is vital.
The youth receive a book survival kit for each book. We meet every other week to review and read the book for 80 minutes.
