The Advocacy team of BLM PHX Metro offers support and connection to community members that are facing direct pressure and abuse from police and prisons. Our priority is to compile resources, and partnerships, that can advocate for those directly impacted by that type of violence. In order to reduce harm, situations brought to our attention that are out of our scope of work will be directed to contact another organization that is more in alignment with providing adequate support. We focus on injustice, and brutality, from the police, as opposed to individuals. We do not have the capacity to deal with individual instances of racism.
Similar to our grassroots organization, we are a small advocacy team made up of Black, queer, and femme folks who are dedicated to learning the needs of Black communities in Phoenix, while doing our best to connect them with resources that fully honor that Black lives matter.
