Similar to how many African nations have their government set up, our organization is made up of ministries. Please review the details below to learn about what they do.
MINISTRY OF POLITICAL EDUCATION
The Ministry of Political Education educates the community on political literacy. We train the community how to engage with their government and be heard, participate in civic engagement and how to understand and critically analyze policy. This ministry’s activities include educating and training our community about political issues that affect our health and wellbeing.
MINISTRY OF COMMUNITY HEALING & WELLBEING
The Ministry of Community Healing & Wellbeing is dedicated to building relationships around Black joy while working through agonizing issues and conflicts that Black communities face. We create spaces where all Black folks are centered, celebrated and valued. We work to better understand and navigate various conflicts that arise. We uphold and support the talents and assets that our communities and allies are able to share. Workshops and events include meditation, art, nature appreciation, and dance.
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
The goal of the Ministry of Education is to create space for Black folks to learn about what matters to them. Activities include the Afro Book Club (ABC), and education seminars on civic engagement. We also help navigate community resources.
MINISTRY OF ACTIVISM & ORGANIZING
We support victims of police brutality. We train our ministry how to hold a press conference, release a press statement, conduct research and gather files, and organize an event. With these skills, we are better able to serve and support our community.
MINISTRY OF ART
The goal of the Ministry of Art is to create a platform where people can be creative and make art that’s centered around social change. Our art varies from community art, logo design, youth projects, art workshops, plays/skits/spoken performances, performative actions, to art parties, grant writing, and cookouts.
