PHONE BLOCKADE FOR DION JOHNSON
Monday 7/13 - Friday 7/17:
Join the Black Abolitionist Collaborative for a phone blockade ALL THIS WEEK—now through Friday! It took over a month to release the name of the officer who shot and killed #DionJohnson on May 25, 2020, and we still do not have justice, accountability, or answers for Dion’s family. Now that we know DPS Trooper George Cervantes murdered Dion, we call on our community to call the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (MCAO) and demand that George Cervantes is held accountable. County Attorney Adel is responsible for prosecuting officers involved in misconduct and murder. In the recent case of #AntonioArce, the Latino 14-year-old who was shot in the back by #TempePD, Adel waited over a year to investigate and ultimately clear the officer who killed him of wrongdoing. This year, however, County Attorney Adel is running for office again in the upcoming November election; let’s let her know we are watching how she handles Dion Johnson’s case.

My name is __________ and I’m calling to demand the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office demonstrate that Black lives matter by treating Dion Johnson’s murder with urgency! The officers involved in this case showed indifference to human life despite being trained in life-saving measures. Charging DPS officer George Cervantes is the least MCAO should do.
The community is demanding MCAO respect Dion Johnson’s family by honoring their requests to charge George Cervantes and hold him accountable. Police are trained to protect us. When they harm us, they should NOT get a pass.
We expect an announcement from your office no later than Friday, July 17, 2020. If we don’t hear from your office, we will know that BLACK LIVES DO NOT MATTER TO ALLISTER ADEL.
