Dion Johnson is a Black man who was shot and killed by an Arizona DPS trooper who found him asleep in his car on May 25, 2020, the same day George Floyd was killed. A trooper is seen on recorded traffic cam video kicking Dion as he rolls around on the ground after being shot in the abdomen. EMTs nearby waited more than six minutes to assist Dion as he lay dying.

On July 8, 2020, DPS revealed that the trooper who shot and killed Dion is George Cervantes, and he is on administrative leave. Cops shouldn’t get paid vacations for killing people. The family’s demands to release the police report, unedited camera footage, have still not been met.

DPS trooper Cervantes has not been fired or charged.
